Everything we get asked about coaching, plans, and how the membership actually works day-to-day.
About the service
Do you actually log into my computers and fix things?▾
No, never. Get An IT Guy is coaching only. We teach, advise, and provide templates and walkthroughs — but you (or someone on your team) does the actual clicking. This is what keeps the price affordable and you in control of your own systems.
What if something breaks at 2am?▾
We're not a 24/7 helpdesk. For after-hours emergencies you'll want a relationship with a local IT firm or your software vendor's support line — and we'll coach you on building those relationships proactively. If 24/7 emergency response is critical to your business, you genuinely need an MSP, not coaching.
What if I'm not technical at all?▾
Perfect — that's exactly who this is built for. The videos, templates, and coaching calls are all in plain English. No jargon. If we use a technical term, we explain it.
How is this different from a managed service provider (MSP)?▾
An MSP runs your IT for you — they have admin access, fix things remotely, deploy patches, and respond to tickets. They cost $100–$300/seat/month and require contracts. We coach you to do those things yourself, with the templates, training, and community to make it manageable.
Plans & billing
Which plan should I start with?▾
Most solo owners and 1–3 person businesses start with Essentials ($97/mo). 3–6 person teams who want policies and quarterly workshops do best on Foundation ($197/mo). Established 6–10 person businesses that want a strategic IT roadmap pick Strategy ($297/mo). Pick where you are today — you can always upgrade.
Is there a contract?▾
No. Cancel anytime, takes effect at the end of your billing period.
What does the $250 setup fee cover?▾
A one-time onboarding session where we orient you to the community, video library, and templates relevant to your business — plus we help you complete your first IT health self-assessment. Non-refundable.
Do you offer refunds?▾
Monthly plans: no refunds, but you can cancel anytime to stop future billing. The setup fee is non-refundable. We'd rather be upfront than surprise anyone.
Can I switch plans mid-month?▾
Switch anytime. Changes take effect at your next billing cycle. No additional setup fee for switching.
Coaching calls & community
When are the live calls?▾
Monthly Q&A: 2nd Wednesday of each month, 12pm ET (1 hour). Plan C weekly check-ins: every Friday, 12:30pm ET (30 min). All calls are recorded and replays are posted within 24 hours.
What if I miss the live call?▾
No problem. Watch the replay (always posted), and Plan B/C members can submit questions in advance for the next call. The community is also active between calls.
Can I have my whole team join?▾
Yes — a single membership covers everyone in your business (up to 10 people). Add as many seats to the community and live calls as you like.
Add-ons
Are the add-ons required?▾
No. Both Password Manager Program and Security Awareness Training are optional. Most members start with the core plan and add later when they're ready.
What does "$3 per employee per month" mean exactly?▾
Count the people on your team who'll be receiving the program (using the password manager, or going through the security training). Multiply by $3. That's the monthly add-on cost. A 5-person team = $15/mo per add-on.
Who it's for
Is this for me if I'm a freelancer / solo?▾
Yes. Solo operators are a sweet spot for Essentials. You get the peace of mind of doing IT properly without paying for an MSP you don't need.
My business has 15 employees. Will this work?▾
Maybe. The plans are designed for businesses up to 10 staff. Above that, complexity tends to outgrow what coaching alone can support — you might be better served by a hybrid (coaching for strategy + an MSP for day-to-day). Contact us and we'll be honest about whether we're a fit.
We're under HIPAA / PCI / CMMC. Can you help?▾
Plans B and C include compliance awareness checklists and roadmaps. Important: we can coach you through compliance principles, but a coaching membership is not a substitute for a qualified compliance auditor or assessor. We'll help you know what questions to ask.
